Are You a Candidate
for an Older Horse
Too often I am told by horse shoppers who have a limited budget;
"I want to advance my skills and be safe. I want to buy a
horse that passes the vet and is no older than 11 or 12."
Sometimes I find people who want a horse as young as 8!
I find there are too many myths and misunderstandings about older
horses.
If
you're a young rider or Adult Amateur with a limited budget you're
the perfect candidate for an older horse.
I
am privileged to work with 4 older horses who teach me every day.
These horses range from 13 to 17 yrs. old. If you still are not
a believer come and see for yourself. They are sound, happy, and
I expect them to be around for a long time.
I am currently working with a 15 year old Stallion named Kevekko
who I am preparing to show next year at the Grand Prix level.
He is already trained in the movements but this year we are strengthening
him and improving his basics. I expect the next few years may
be his best ever.
